EP Permed Training in Data Management

Outlined in the broader context of Task 5.7 – Tackling ELSA within the EP PerMed, the Training on Data Management was articulated with the other capacity development and documental support activities of this Taks, which main objective relates to the provision of training and advising supporting frameworks on Ethical, Legal, data protection, data sharing and reuse, and Social and economic Aspects, targeting EP PerMed scientific community.

Its main purpose was to enable a responsible and effective use of data, by endowing researchers, clinicians, and data professionals with the knowledge, skills, and best practices necessary to manage, share, and interpret complex biomedical data in a way that supports personalised healthcare solutions.

EP Permed JTC2025 Booklet

The JTC2025 represents a further milestone in strengthening coordinated, cross-border research efforts in personalised medicine. Bringing together 35 funding organisations from 24 countries and 10 regions, this European Union (EU) co-funded initiative supports collaborative, high-quality research aimed at advancing innovative and patient-centred personalised medicine solutions, with a particular emphasis on the identification and validation of targets relevant for pharmacogenomics-driven approaches.

Following a rigorous and highly competitive evaluation process, 56 consortia were invited to submit full proposals, resulting in 55 eligible full proposals and the selection of 22 excellent projects for funding, with a total investment of 34.4 million Euros.

EP Permed In-situ Visit Brno

EP PerMed organised an in-suto visit to the Center for Precision Medicine of the University Brno (Czech Republic) on 27 and 28 November 2025, back-to-back with the first joint ICPerMed and EP PerMed Conference in Prague. Through discussion and the exchange of best practice examples in personalised medicine, this visits foster the development of personalised medicine and inspire other centres and initiatives by showcasing successful implementation examples.

EP Permed JTC2024 Booklet

EP PerMeds Joint Transnational Call for Proposals 2024 (JTC2024) marks a significant step in aligning strategies and advancing collaborative research efforts in the field of personalised medicine between different countries and European national regions. Aiming to foster innovation and reinforce the competitiveness of European research, the call brought together 38 funding organisations from 23 countries and 10 regions.

The JTC2024 received an impressive response from the research community, with 283 eligible pre-proposals submitted. Following a competitive selection process, 64 consortia were invited to submit full proposals, and 27 outstanding projects were selected for funding, representing a total investment of 39.2 million Euros.

EP Permed Workshop on Scientific Integrity

EP PerMed hosted a Workshop on Scientific Integrity as a satellite event of the EP PerMed Conference on Personalised Medicine Research on 12 and 13 February 2025 in Berlin (Germany). The workshop was mainly designed for the scientific community in personalised medicine applying to EP PerMed funding or other funding opportunities.

Framed in the EP PerMed strategy to support the research community on Ethical Legal and Social Aspects (ELSA) of personalised medicine, this training action explored critical issues related to scientific integrity in personalised medicine related research.

EP PerMed Conference on Personalised Medicine Research

EP PerMed organised a conference on personalised medicine research on 11 and 12 February 2025 in Berlin, Germany. The conference brought together around 250 international experts in the areas of personalised medicine to present and discuss cutting-edge research and their successful translation into clinical practice.

The two-day conference combined insights into cutting-edge transnational research from different perspectives such as diagnostics, therapy and clinical trials, and addressed ethical and legal aspects of personalised medicine. It also provided an excellent networking opportunity for top researchers from Europe and beyond to collaborate on future challenges in personalised medicine and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities.

EP Permed first In-situ Visit

EP PerMed held the first in a series of in-situ visits in Stockholm, Sweden on 11-12 November.

The EP PerMed in-situ visits to selected personalised medicine centres aim specifically to provide real-life examples of successful personalised medicine research, innovation and implementation in healthcare systems, and to inform the EP PerMed stakeholder community about ongoing activities in EU Member States.

Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS) is a national infrastructure for the implementation of precision medicine across the country, which was launched in 2018. Since then, the initiative has expanded and regional precision medicine centres are being established, of which GMS is a central component.

EP Permed ELSA Symposium

The EP PerMed Symposium on Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of Personalised Medicine addressed the main ethical challenges in personalised medicine research in order to raise awareness and train researchers by addressing ELSA issues in personalised medicine from a macro approach (ethics of new technologies) to a specific approach (ethics, legal issues, privacy issues and artificial intelligence (AI) in personalised medicine).

The event took place in a hybrid format with around 120 participants on site and online on 26 September 2024 in Brussels, Belgium.

EP Permed first Round Table

EP PerMed organised a roundtable discussion on ‘De-risking Innovation in Personalised Medicine’ on 27 May 2024 in Brussels. The event accompanied the Belgian Presidency of the EU and aimed to shape the future of healthcare in the Benelux region and beyond.

Our round table on Personalised Medicine promised to spark important conversations, drive innovation and foster collaboration towards a healthcare landscape that is personalised. We invited professionals who are passionate about advancing healthcare to register now and be part of this transformative journey.

The event was organised by EP PerMed Partner EIT Health and was open to industry leaders, clinicians, healthcare providers, patient advocates, policy makers, government agencies, data specialists, researchers and academics.

JTC2022 Midterm Symposium

The ERA PerMed JTC2022 Midterm Symposium, held on 3–4 February 2026 in Paris, brought together researchers, clinicians, funders, and patient engagement experts to discuss the progress and interim outcomes of projects funded under the ERA PerMed Joint Transnational Call 2022.

JTC2021 Midterm Symposium

The ERA PerMed Joint Transnational Call 2021 (JTC2021) Midterm Symposium was organised by EP PerMed on 12 and 13 February 2025 in Berlin. The symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, funders, and patient representatives to discuss the progress and outcomes of the ERA PerMed projects and featured presentations from 21 interdisciplinary consortia (out of 22) funded under the JTC2021 call, which focuses on the development of clinical support tools to facilitate the implementation of personalised medicine.
