First in-situ visit for EP PerMed at Swedish Personalised Medicine Centres

The EP PerMed in-situ visits in selected personalised medicine centres specifically aim at:

  • Providing real life examples of successful personalised medicine research, innovation and its implementation into healthcare systems.
  • Inform EP PerMed stakeholders’ community about ongoing activities in EU member states.
  • Foster the exchange of best practice among national and regional centres and in general among stakeholders involved in the personalised medicine value continuum.
  • Promote the growth of less advanced personalised medicine centres or help setting the basis for future initiatives.
  • Favour the involvement of funding agencies and decision makers in the International Consortium for Personalised Medicine (ICPerMed)
  • Strengthen existing collaborations or promote the creation of new ones.
  • Through dialogue identify needs and opportunities that can support future updates of the EP PerMed Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) and future activities.

Regional Precision Medicine Centres building on Genomic Medicine Sweden (Sweden)

Genomic Medicine Sweden (GMS) is a national infrastructure for the implementation of precision medicine across the country which started 2018. This initiative has since then expanded and regional Precision Medicine centres are being established where GMS is a central component.

Through regional centres for genomic medicine at all Swedish university hospitals and a common infrastructure for data sharing, GMS has built up the capacity for precision diagnostics/medicine in rare diseases, cancer, infectious diseases and complex diseases.
