From July, the International Consortium for Personalised Medicine (ICPerMed) will have three new chairs. Étienne Richer (Canada, CIHR Institute of Genetics) will serve as chair, while Raili Sillart (Estonia, Ministry of Social Affairs) and Rizwana Mia (South African Medical Research Council) will serve as vice-chairs.
The consortium has also established two new working groups:
- A working group on policy, led by Astrid Vincente (Portugal, National Institute of Health Dr Ricardo Jorge)
- An internationalisation working group led by Monika Frenzel (France, Agence nationale de la recherche).
Since 2016 ICPerMed with more than 40 European and international partners provides a platform to initiate and support communication and exchange on personalised medicine research funding and implementation. With the establishment of EP PerMed, ICPerMed is now entering a new phase of development in which both initiatives will work in close collaboration. Thereby ICPerMed and EP PerMed explore synergies on identifying suitable frameworks for personalised medicine research and implementation. While EP PerMed focuses on research funding, innovation building and implementation facilitating, ICPerMed provides political perspectives as well as learning from an international funders’ network in this initiative. To support this role, ICPerMed relies on the strong engagement of its members and on the activities developed by its internationalisation, and policy and strategy working groups.
