Hamdi Mbarek, Director of Research and Partnerships at the Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI), leads large-scale genomic initiatives and international collaborations that are advancing personalised medicine in Qatar and beyond. In our short version of the interview, Hamdi portrays personalised medicine as a beacon of hope for improving healthcare outcomes, particularly in the following areas: better disease prevention; more accurate diagnosis; and effective, personalised treatment.

In the longer video interview, Hamdi explains how QPHI is establishing the essential infrastructure and data resources necessary for the large-scale implementation of personalised medicine. The institute’s work focuses on generating and integrating large-scale genomic data, biobank data and clinical information in order to enable the provision of affordable, effective personalised medicine solutions. These rich datasets are shared with researchers to promote clinical research projects with translational potential, thereby bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and patient care.
