EP PerMed contributed to the EATRIS-CONNECT Summer School 2026, which was organised from 9 to 11 September 2026 in Ljubljana and brought together early-career researchers to explore the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in personalised medicine.

As part of the joint EP PerMed–EATRIS session “Digital Transformation in Personalised Medicine – An Overview”, our EP PerMed colleague Gianni D’Errico from Toscana Life Sciences Foundation presented EP PerMed’s activities, including current and future funding and capacity-building initiatives.
Thanks to the involvement of Marco Battaglini from Siena Imaging srl, participants also gained insights into how AI can support more personalised and potentially less invasive diagnosis. Using the GLIOGEN-X project as an example, he highlighted how generative AI can explore whether molecular information about gliomas can be recovered from brain MRI, with the long-term potential to support approaches such as virtual biopsy and reduce the need for invasive procedures.
