New Regional Funding Opportunities for Digital Health

Two new funding opportunities of interest to the personalised medicine community have recently been launched or announced through the UNITE and SYSTEMEU initiatives. The calls support the development and implementation of digital health solutions across Europe.

UNITE: Interregional Innovation Projects in Digital Health

The Horizon Europe co-funded UNITE project has launched its second Open Call for Interregional Innovation Proposals in digital health, with a total budget of €6 million. The call addresses two challenges: deep-tech innovations to secure equal access to health, including personalised care, and digital innovations addressing the health workforce crisis. Consortia must bring together at least three organisations from three different participating regions (Region of Central Macedonia, Greece; Lombardy Region, Italy; Extremadura Region, Spain; Aragón Region, Spain; Scotland, United Kingdom; Wales, United Kingdom; Romania, national scope.) and include a solution provider, a research entity and an end-user organisation. Projects can receive up to €1 million, with a maximum of €600,000 per beneficiary. The deadline is 10 December 2026 at 17:00 CET.

SYSTEMEU: Funding for Digital Transformation in Healthcare

The SYSTEMEU Open Call for Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) provides €7.55 million for interregional projects developing, testing and validating digital solutions in healthcare, energy and mobility. In healthcare, relevant areas include AI-based diagnostics, medical imaging analysis, digital health platforms and the digitalisation of clinical workflows. Projects must involve organisations from SYSTEMEU regions in Bavaria, Romania, Castilla y León, Tuzla Canton and/or Norte Portugal and should advance technologies from at least TRL 6 towards TRL 8 in real-world settings. Depending on consortium size, projects can receive between €750,000 and €2.2 million, with up to €600,000 per individual beneficiary. Applications are open until 16 November 2026 at 17:00 Brussels time.
