The Transformative Healthcare Instrument 2026 supports high-potential European start-ups aiming to advance product development, strengthen commercialisation strategies and prepare for further fundraising. Selected projects can receive between €300,000 and €500,000 in EIT Health funding. The call targets private companies, in particular micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with at least four full-time equivalent employees. Projects must address unmet clinical needs and demonstrate sufficient maturity depending on their sector, including biotech, medtech, digital health, biomarkers or diagnostics.

The Innovation Uptake Call supports mature digital, data-driven and AI-powered healthcare solutions that are ready to scale across European markets. The call is designed to accelerate market entry, generate real-world evidence, strengthen market access and support adoption in healthcare systems. Funding can support activities such as commercialisation pilots in real-world healthcare settings, usability testing, market adaptation, business model validation, health economics analysis and reimbursement pathway development. Up to eight projects may be funded, with a maximum EIT Health contribution of €650,000 per project.

Both calls require co-funding, with EIT Health covering up to 50% of total project costs. Applications will be submitted through the EIT Health application platform, which opens on 15 July 2026. The deadline for both calls is 16 September 2026.

In addition, EIT Health has opened two further calls for the development of learning materials: the Biotech Innovation Path Call, supporting a new EIT Label-certified biotech pathway, and the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Micro-Credentials Call, supporting a new micro-credentials programme for healthcare innovators and entrepreneurs.
