Martina Cornel, Professor of Community Genetics and Public Health Genomics at Amsterdam University Medical Centers, works on the responsible implementation of genetic testing in healthcare practice. She is also president of the European Society of Human Genetics. In our video interview, she discusses the challenges and strategies involved in integrating genetic testing into healthcare systems to ensure equity and accessibility for all. Although substantial evidence from health technology assessments supports the value of certain genetic tests, the difficulty lies in systematically integrating these tests so that all patients can benefit rather than relying on individual doctors’ discretion.
